Some things just seem to slip by without me knowing.
I just discovered that last month Famous Monsters of Filmland creator Forrest J. Ackerman passed away. I'll never forget meeting Uncle Forry by chance at DragonCon almost 20 years ago. They had a grand piano in the hotel where the convention was being held and I was banging away at the keys (anyone who knows me knows I can't be around a piano without playing it), and I heard a voice from behind request something from 'Phantom of The Opera'. I was excitedly surprised to turn and see Forry standing there smiling. The first words from my mouth were, 'Can I see the rings?' and he held out his hands. And I gazed in awe at the ring worn by Bela Legosi in 'Dracula' on one of his hands, and the ring worn by Boris Karloff in 'The Mummy' on the other.
It was a brief encounter, but one I'll always remember. He was a very kind soul.
Farewell Uncle Forry.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.

If you say you love your job, but your actions say otherwise, which do you think is more true — your words or your actions?
