WRiTiNG?! 08/27/2009

I've always been a writer, whether it be prose, poetry, or lyrics. And I've had about ten novels floating around in my head for many years now. One of them, set in the world of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, has started to surface (forgive the pun)! I'm mostly just outlining the project right now. I'll keep you posted.
I'm also commited (another pun!) to writing an anthology of horror stories with my old friend Oliver Tilley. We'll both be illustrating it as well! This will be really fun!
Going to see Rob Zombie's 'Halloween 2' tomorrow night, anxious to see what he's going to do with Michael Myers this time. Have to say, I'm still partial to the first two John Carpenter 'Halloween' films; JC is one of my favorite directors. But I'm open to Zombie's take on the franchise.
I hate I'm going to miss out on Dragoncon next weekend. If you're going, stop by and say hi to my friends Larry Elmore, Doug Bradley, Alexander Finbow, Bob Eggleton, and Mike Mignola! And have fun!
If you're a Lovecraft fan, I highly recommend the film 'Cthulhu'... It's one of the best Lovecraft-inspired films I've ever seen!

First of all, lots of well wishes going out to two dear friends and fellow artists... Larry Elmore and Nick Rose... Get well, brothers!!!
Been reading a lot of Lovecraft here lately, diving back into the dark waters of the Cuthulhu Mythos, rediscovering some old chills and enjoying a few new ones!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
  Happy Birthday Oliver!!!

  It's too damn hot!
Been reading some Lovecraft and got inspired to do the new piece... hope you like it!
I'm tired, so this isn't going to be a long or exciting blog.
I very much want to attend Dragoncon in Atlanta next month, but the reality is that I'm probably not going to be able to be there. That really sucks; there's a lot of friends I want to see, some I've never even physically met! But oh, well... maybe on down the road!
Hope everyone's having a great week!

I just returned from the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee this week; spent 2 days there helping my best friend Oliver move back to Mississippi. It's good to have him back; he and I have always artistically thrived off each other.
I've got a lot of projects in the works, and it feels like it's going to take forever!
Hoping to attend Dragoncon next month, but it's still not a certainty.
I'm still drinking too much coffee!
  Hope everyone's doing well!

This is the latest, but it's not quite the final version!

It's been a long and hot and miserable week. I turned 37 last weekend, and I feel it!

No real big news to share right now... just tired!

My latest!

"...delightfully creepy."

Artist Alan M. Clark said that about my art earlier this week. It still amazes me, all the heroes I'm encountering. Alan's work has always inspired me!

Check him out... http://www.alanmclark.com

Next Friday, June 5th, I'll turn 37. To believe that there was a time in my life when I would have never believed I'd make it to 25. I've learned a lot over the years. I don't think we just get over bad things, but we can learn to live with them. I've made a lot of mistakes that I've learned from. I'm very fortunate to be here, and very blessed to have experianced so much and to have met so many wonderful people, people who have inspired and influanced me on so many levels. And I want to thank all of you! Here's hoping the future will reflect the beauty of the past!

Tonight's a week ago now that me and my beloved Ember parted ways. We met a little over a year ago. She's my Soulmate; I still believe that. We were physically together for about 3 months, but she was sent back to Arkansas last summer. I'd been doing everything I could to move up there so we could be together, but alas, my financial situation just would not allow it. She met someone else, and even though she said she'd wait for me, I wanted her to be happy above all things... so we went our seperate ways. We were engaged, and I do still love her. Everything happens for a reason, I suppose. Ember taught me the basics of digital art, and I am blessed to have had her in my world.

Depression always invokes creativity... so I'm being very productive!

Me and Artist Larry Elmore! I've admired Larry's work since I was 12 yrs old! It is such a wonderful honor to now be his friend!

First of all I want to thank Raymond, and thank Don for inviting me to come and hang out at the con for the weekend. I'm on the Guest List for next year and that's awesome!

I want to thank author Mark Worrell for re-introducing me to Larry Elmore, who I first met at Coastcon in '91. Larry and I started talking and never seemed to stop during the entire weekend. He's a kindred spirit... it's wonderful and rare when one of your heroes become one of your friends! Thank you, Larry!

Check out Larry's work... www.larryelmore.com

Thanks also to the lovely Ilka... your presence brings out the light in everyone!

It's technically Sunday, so Yesterday was very cool! Was in Ocean Springs, MS at 3 Alarm Comics doing a signing for National Free Comics Day!

Great fun! Got to hang out with old friends Steven Butler, Mitch Byrd, Thomas Florimonte, etc, and made some new friends and fans!

Special thanks to Scott for inviting me down! Thanks to Brian & his wife (I'm horrible with names!), Will, John Dell, Eric Powell, and all the other guests and hosts! I had a wonderful time!

Check these guys out! www.threealarmcomics.com

Here's a new piece. I'm pretty happy with this one!

It's already been a long week, and it isn't even Wednesday yet!

I was thinking a lot about music today. I miss writing songs. I miss performing onstage. Hopefully there'll be time for that someday soon!
